Biochemistry Optical Core
The Biochemistry Optical Core (BOC) provides access to state-of-the-art instrumentation for confocal, epi-fluorescent, TIRFM, and super-resolution light microscopy. We are currently located in the Biochemical Science Complex in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Our mission is to enhance basic and translation research by providing training and expertise on basic and advanced light microscopy techniques. Additionally, expertise and advice is available for the design of experiments, grants, and manuscripts involving these techniques as well as consultation on image analysis processes.
For information regarding instrument training and use, please contact Kurt Weiss.
Biophysics Instrumentation Facility
The Biophysics Instrumentation Facility (BIF) is part of the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is located in Room 4420 of the Biochemical Sciences Building. The facility provides access to state of the art instrumentation focused on the study of conformations, activities and assembly of biological and other macromolecules. While each instrument provides distinct insight, the ensemble enables a thorough characterization of, structure, function and interaction of biological assemblies. For information regarding instrument training and use, please contact BIF staff (Darrell McCaslin or Dan Stevens).
The Facility is always on the lookout for new users from departments across campus. If you are interested in having us speak at a group or departmental meeting about our capabilities, please contact Dan Stevens.
